Why Teachers Suck …

An excellent read!

Bert Fulks

A friend and I were grousing about ignorance run amok.

“Americans get their information from internet memes,” I laughed.  “And in the true spirit of democracy, dullards who have never cracked a book will cancel the votes of people who actually have a clue. What could go wrong?”

“You know what the problem is?” Tim challenged.  “Our country’s a mess because teachers suck.”

teacher2I bristled.

Although I’ve been out of the classroom for a number of years, once a teacher, always a teacher.  Plus, I have family and friends still slugging it out in the trenches.  I know their battles and the wounds they carry.

“Dude, do you know what teachers endure on a daily basis?” I asked Tim.  I found that, no, he didn’t.  I fear most Americans might be as clueless.

I emailed a former colleague (she’s two years from retirement) and asked one question:  “How has education…

Mardi Gras blues 2017

To live in a non Mardi Gras world with a Mardi Gras heart. This is my 15th Mardi Gras season away from Mardi Gras land… sigh.. which makes it 15 long years without that chewy sweet crusty gooey King cake to stuff my finger licking face with. How have I not perished yet? It is a thing that flows through your veins if you have ever lived through one season, but most especially if your family history glows nostalgically from the sights and sounds and smells of generational memory’s of songs, floats, hollering and the sting of face caught beads– umbrellas flipped up to catch the goodies and grandmas stomping tiny hands to grab a coveted treasure- this is NOT a sport for the faint of heart or hurt feelings. No room for that!! Just learn to be faster with a grab tuck duck roll and run! It’s a learned thing not unlike that found at Parris Island! I think Mardi Gras Might just BE the ultimate training grounds for our good US Marines et al!! You have to be all you can be when the game is afoot. Just sayin- 💚💜💛

Someone PLEASE send King Cake!!! #mardigras #kingcake #mobilemardigras

Welcome Home (from archives)

December 24, 2013Welcome Home By Margaret Trotman

Welcome home
After reading an excerpt from the referenced book by Alfred Edersheim, it brought home to rest in my own heart what I haven’t been able to pin point pertaining to where I am at this point in life.

I grew up a military brat- so the nomad is in my blood and until I married, I never stopped moving around- I know my mom was the same- but where ever we moved, our house or where she was – always was home- it was the feel, the smells, the decor, the plants but mainly the love. Where our fondest memories are, lay the thoughts of home –Untitled2
When Joseph and Mary left to register w the census – I wonder, did they feel the sense of home or homelessness or were they at peace just to be together? To fulfill that which was foretold they traveled far to find a home in which they weren’t sure about. Out of trust and love Mary follows her husband, their fate and the baby’s fate is truly given over to faith.

Which brings me to what has been on my heart of late; even while outcast or a stranger in a place- how are you ever truly at home?
Then Angel came to the shepherds who are set apart from everyone else- and made them know they were special- showed them the way-

As a farmer, I know the spiritual struggle and balancing of “keeping the Lords day sacred”– I can imagine how others looked at them who had to work to keep the special sheep up to par-

I’ve learned to overdo the day before so that minimal is done on the Sabbath- and what can’t be avoided is prayed over and done to His Glory with thanks- but for an Angel to appear before them- in the middle of their watch to show them the way, this told them the way was the way home for them- even though they were outcast- they now have a home –

I think the saying “you can’t go home again” falls just short of the truth really. If we stop looking hard enough and look within we’ll see home never really left US

And though Joseph was a carpenter, and Mary was a child of God bearing the Son of God and man. Together they gave our Father a home. He in turn gave us a home in Him-

So I say to all, whose nests are empty , who have roamed to and fro searching, who are unsure of where their journey has taken them, and who just can’t make out their surroundings or are surrounded by everything alien – stop for a moment and look , listen- the signs say it all where ever we are. Welcome Home-

From “The Life and Times of Jesus the Masiah”

Book II chapter 6 line 20-23states:

A passage in the Mishnah20 leads to the conclusion, that the flocks, which pastured there, were destined for Temple-sacrifices,21 and, accordingly, that the shepherds, who watched over them, were not ordinary shepherds. (**21. In fact the Mishnah (Baba K. vii. 7) expressly forbids the keeping of flocks throughout the land of Israel, except in the wilderness – and the only flocks otherwise kept, would be those for the Temple-services (Baba K. 80 a)

The latter were under the ban of Rabbinism,22 on account of their necessary isolation from religious ordinances, and their manner of life, which rendered strict legal observance unlikely, if not absolutely impossible. The same Mishnic passage also leads us to infer, that these flocks lay out all the year round, since they are spoken of as in the fields thirty days before the Passover – that is, in the month of February, when in Palestine the average rainfall is nearly greatest.23 Thus, Jewish tradition in some dim manner apprehended the first revelation of the Messiah from that Migdal Eder, where shepherds watched the Temple-flocks all the year round. Of the deep symbolic significance of such a coincidence, it is needless to speak.
I have a small farm with my husband in NE Fla., where we grow lavender as well as an array of four legged and feathered babies- I am a writer and photographer – and I have a passion for cooking. As an artist my outdoor kitchen is my favourite pallet in which to create. Though it’s not much by worldly standards, I know, through it all, I have been truly blessed by our Father.

Today I choose..

Everyday different things step to the forefront for your attention, your senses, your thoughts. Today my mind was on something I didn’t even know, until I went out and saw it peeking out from behind everything- red is highly underrated- it’s warm, it’s passion, it’s sweet and juicy; it’s LOVE and ire all in one package waiting for which side you take. Today I choose cozy. ~m#southernspiritfarm

Chilly sleep in

Wow!! Bed early up late ! When you’re snuggled in, all warm, surrounded and covered by cats and the air outside the blanket is cool– it’s tough to get up.. then that one dog gives his one deep and loud bark right outside the door– (the I have to go potty NOW bark.) cats and blanket fly- (I swear he Channel’s my dad! Mama would fight and struggle to get me out of bed when I was little, daddy? One hard knock on the door and a “it’s 0630! GET UP” and I was airborne, dressed and out the door before the blanket hit the floor!)That cold air hits any exposed skin and you know you’re alive!

Hitting the floor running this morning. Coffee on the brew, dogs on the bark, kitties indignantly forgiving after their bowls are filled. Here I come World… this day must have something special in it to find to nudge me so hard!!

Come on Lena… let’s go see what the boys are up to out there so loudly.

Things that go bump in the night- as Hurricane Matthew slithers away..

Annnd the Cheese stands alone…..

On a dark and stormy night…

All alone in the dark as the wind howled …
Okay– yes- I’m bored..trot just went out side – I told him to dodge limbs; more we’re down, we found – he napped until just a bit ago so it was me and my little wind up radio… and a cute little bug 🐜 that was attracted by the light… we bonded. He might be in the picture if you look hard…. he just walked round and round… okay I’ll go now. It’s been a long day…. and I heard loud crashes still out there- we lost a few panels off the old barn. Some are loose and banging, others are just flying off!

Also just heard earlier it could take several days for the power to come back on… aLOTTA meats gonna be grilled tomorrow… if the grill didn’t blow away.

Hurricane Matthew- keep praying-All is well- so far

Good morning from our soggy farm!
SURF’s UP!!!
Went out @ 0854am to feed up this morning- everyone was very calm and watchful- even fussy LUCY! Who’s safety parameter is usually 4-5′ preferably 20′! It was a little gusty some ☔️ but cooling and nice really. The trees were blowing a little with a LOUD whisper. Not howling yet. Barney and Bodley roosters were taking a leisurely stroll, trolling for morsels of goodies. They are now back in the barn – funny how they all become a peaceable kingdoms before a storm – I call it the Ark syndrome .. but was ARE magisark! Hah!

Divided up the aisle so Lucy could still have her space and an out thru the back gate if she wants- but she never ventures far from Elam who is in the stall by her end of the barn- I feel MUCH better having moved the big boy Donks- Stone and Yule, into the barn as well. Their stall in the little barn was too exposed- they went right in and hunkered where I wanted them. It always pleases and amazes me how they listen and obey your every wish, understanding your efforts and wants of them during times like this.

The feed room has the chairs ready for us if needed- some of the more skidding and run and hide cates are already crated. Everyone else are staying low and close to us – and I have coffee in hand , wine near by , plenty of knitting and a good book- and trot has his movies and beer- we have food and water- and a few snax to boot- so far so good- really praying hard for friends and family to our south/ as they are getting hammered pretty bad all night and now, as Matthew slowing slides up along the coast- thankfully – being close to land HAS weakens him a little, do… that’s good-
We love you- here is a video from this morning and a few pix- will keep you posted!! I am posting on my farm page on FB and sharing them on my regular page and twitter and Instagram when I can- plus emailing to those who don’t have any of those-
We LOVE you all!! Be safe be smart and KEEP PRAYING FOR US PLEASE! As always , it’s working!
